Yes, you are right, this is a recipe of a vegan steak. They are beyond delicious and much much better than the ones made of dead animals, these ones are vegan and cruelty-free.
Hope you give these vegan steaks a go, you’ll not regret, I promise.
- 3 cups of red beans cooked (2 cans)
- 1 cup of mashed potatoes (~3 medium potatoes)
- 1 cup potato starch
- 3 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 onion chopped
- Olive oil 2tbsp + 1tbsp
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Herbs and spices to taste (eg. smoked paprika, thyme, cumin, nutmeg)
Cook the potatoes with salt and water, when they are soft, drain the water, and mash them with a fork, season with nutmeg and pepper. Set aside.
Fry the onion until caramelized in 2 tbs of olive oil, with salt and thyme.
In the food processor, add all the ingredients together less the potato starch, and process until is well combined and homogenous. Try a little bit and adjust the seasonings.
Slowly add the potato starch until you have a semi mouldable pasta dough. This pasta is soft that’s normal, the ‘steaks’ will get their shape when you cook them.
Heat 2 tbsp of olive oil in a large frying pan. Take ~1-2 tbsp of pasta dough and place it in the frying pan; with a spatula press the dough until it gets to the thickness you like and lightly fry them, for ~2-3 minutes on each side.
PT:
- 3 canecas de feijão vermelho cozido (2 latas de feijão)
- 1 caneca de purê de batata
- 1 caneca de fécula de batata
- 3 colheres de sopa de molho de soja
- 1 cebola picada
- 2c.sopa + 1c. sopa de azeite
- 3 dentes de alho picado
- Sal e pimenta a gosto
- ervas e especiarias a gosto (ex. pimentão fumado, cominhos, tomilho, noz moscada)
