Spinach Falafel (falafel com espinafres)

Spinach Falafel (falafel com espinafres) vegan

  • 1 cup cooked chickpeas
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1/2 small onion, chopped
  • 1+1/2 handful of spinach
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 3 teaspoons of Tahini
  • salt, pepper and cumin to taste
  • chickpea or oat flour if necessary
  • *Oil for deep frying* 

Place the spinach in a processor and blitz until fine. Then place all the other ingredients and pulse until pasty and combined.

The mixture should stick together enough to form patties, if it doesn’t add some chickpea flour or if to dry add some water.

?Oven:
Preheat the oven to 200°C.
Make small balls with your hands and put them on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
Bake them in the oven for about 30 minutes, carefully flipping them halfway throw (the longer you bake, the crispier they get).

?Fried: 

Heat enough oil to cover the balls.

Using two spoons shape into balls and gently drop into the hot oil. Cook each falafel for about 5 minutes until browned.

Falafel com Espinafres
  • 1 caneca de grão de bico cozido
  • 2 dentes de alho picados
  • 1/2 cebola pequena picada
  • 1 punhado grande de espinafres
  • 1colher de sopa de sumo de limão fresco
  • 3 colheres de chá de tahini (pasta de sésamo)
  • Sal, pimenta e cominhos a gosto
  • farinha de grão de bico ou farinha de aveia, caso necessário
  • * Óleo para fritar*

Colocar os espinafres num processador e triturar um pouco. De seguida, colocar os restantes ingredientes e pulsar até ficar pastoso e combinado.

A mistura deve-se unir o suficiente para formar as bolinhas, se não estiver no ponto adicionar um pouco de farinha de grão de bico ou se estiver muito seco adicionar um pouco de água.

?Forno:
Pré-aquecer o forno a 200°C.
Fazer pequenas bolas com as mãos e colocar num tabuleiro forrado com papel manteiga.
Levar ao forno por aproximadamente 30 minutos, virar cuidadosamente a meio do processo (quanto mais tempo ficar no forno, mais crocantes).

?Frito:

Aquecer óleo suficiente para cobrir as bolinhas.

Usando duas colheres, formar em bolas e delicadamente coloca-las no óleo quente. Cozinhar cada bolinha por cerca de 5 minutos, até estarem douradas.

    I never imagined that would be this easy 🙂 I love falafel and this was my first attempt to make them from scratch. they turned out just perfect. I don’t know if was because I made them myself but they were the best falafels I ever had 🙂

    I am a big fan of falafel and I usually buy a mix to make mine. I have only made falafel from scratch once but I should give it another go with this recipe. It sounds and looks delicious
