After you read this post you will neve buy oat milk again in the supermarket, the homemade version is cheaper, easy do make, delicious and you know exactly what you are drinking.
The recipe is quite simple and full of possible variations:
- 1 litre water (4cups)
- 40g rolled oats preferably wholegrain and organic (1/3 cup)
- 3 dates (optional)
- 1 pinch of salt (optional)
- Vanilla Extract or almond extract (optional)
- 1tsp Cinnamon (optional)
Soak the oats for at least 2 hours. Drain the oats, place them into a blender and add the water. Blend on high speed for approximately 1 minute, or until the oats have been completely broken down into a creamy liquid.
Strain the milk through a fine sieve,cheese/muslin cloth into a clean glass jar. Store it in the fridge, will last for 3-5 days. 🙂
Tips: You can add / subtract ingredients according to taste and dietary needs. You may add more water if you prefer a thinner milk, or less for a slightly thicker consistency.
Shake the bottle before drinking.
You can store and use the leftover oat pulp to do cookies, cakes, bread, burgers, granola pancakes, energetic bars, muffins, etc.
Be creative and enjoy!
PT:
Never thought of this! I am defo not buying it again!!
you will save lots of money 😉
I am making the first batch plain to see which flavor(s) to add. 🙂
That’s great 🙂 plain is good because you can add to everything, cakes, coffee, tea, chia pudding, pancakes,…
I have to try this recipe! I have only been buying soy milk for the longest time and I would love to try something different! This is exactly what I will try. I bet it is cheaper in the end to make your own instead of buying cartons at stores. Great post!
much more cheaper, I leave in the UK, I’m buying a 1kg bag of organic oats for £1.40 what is enough to do approximately 25 litres of milk.. 😀 enjoy
This sounds neat! Will try, thanks!
It will turn out just perfect ??
